No Monkeying Around at Twycross Zoo

Following the escape of Kumbuka, the male silverback gorilla, from London Zoo in October, zoos across the UK are under pressure to ensure they have secure and proven key management systems in place.

Fortunately Twycross Zoo, based in Atherstone, Leicestershire, has opted for our CLIQ™ Remote system, providing assured security and peace of mind.

Supplied by Rossells Locksmiths, the system has been installed on the site’s gibbon habitat, offering a simple and intelligent electromechanical locking system to improve security and access.

The CLIQ™ Remote system allows only those with the necessary authority and training to obtain access to animal enclosures. ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote has the functionality to create time defined user keys, allowing access for a specified period of time. This is a useful feature for vets and zookeepers who may need to access the enclosures outside normal opening hours.

Claire Oldham, Director of Discovery and Learning at Twycross Zoo, said: “We were looking for a modern key management system. ASSA’s CLIQ™ Remote solution enables us to have secure control over our keys. We have plans to install ASSA’s CLIQ™ solution across the whole zoo, as we redevelop the site.”
